BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT
The department of Islamic Studies was established in 1975 along with other departments in the college then known as Federal Advanced Teachers’ College, Okene. The college was renamed: Federal College of Education in 1985 and was granted autonomous status in 1987. Since its inception, the department has produced many graduates of the Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in line with the mandate of the institution.
Presently, the department has eleven (11) teaching staffers and one (1) non-teaching staff. More so, Mallam Raji Abdulwahab is the current Head of Department and as well the ranking distribution of the teaching staff is appropriate in line with the NCCE requirements.
