IPPIS: FCE, Okene Complies in Full

IPPIS is an acronym for Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System. The IPPIS project which commenced in 2007 is responsible for payment of salaries directly to the bank account of Federal Government Employees.

IPPIS is a platform controlled by the government. It integrates and harmonizes payments of Federal employees. IPPIS office says it has been able to weed out ghost employees from the payroll through its technology driven process.

The idea of the IPPIS was not intially welcomed by staff of Nigeria tertiary educational institutions but the government had insisted for complete compliance.

On October 8th, 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, presented the 2020 budget proposal before lawmakers and vowed that any federal employee not captured on IPPIS should forget receiving monthly salary beginning from October 2019.

To this effect, the IPPIS Team arrived the Federal College of Education, Okene on Tuesday 26th November, 2019, the Team consist of five

members and a group of three consultants. The Team was led by Mr. Ayam Daniel of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.

The exercise did not begin fully as scheduled until Thursday, 28th November, 2019 due to some delays. The exercise started with the academic staff of the College beginning from the School of Adult, Non-Formal and Special Education and the first person to be captured, was Dr. Okpanachi Stephen, the Dean, School of Adult, Non-Formal and Special Education. The exercise went smoothly and ended on Saturday, 7th December, 2019.
