The Provost of the Federal College of Education, Okene, Dr. Umar Hassan has felicitated with His Royal Majesty, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji(Dr). Ado Ibrahim CON, on the occasion of his 90th birthday. The Provost in the company of other members of the College Management visited the Royal Majesty in his Azad Palace to congratulate him and thereafter prayed for Allah’s continued blessings to live for more years in good health and for peace and tranquility in his domain.
The Provost whilst delivering his congratulatory remarks, highlighted the tremendous progress and achievements recorded so far since his assumption of duty in the College, such as sustaining and entrenching peaceful co-existence between staff, students and the College host Community. He said there was no environment or any enterprise or institution that exists without peace and peace is the fundamental ingredients for every developmental endeavour, stating that the College is witnessing the most peaceful era.
The Provost also reiterated his administration’s commitment to maintaining, sustaining and improving on all the good things he met on ground and where there was need for modification, he would do the needful. He also said that he has reached out to other institutions, NGOs, corporate bodies for them to come to assist the institution in one aspect or the other because government funding is solely inadequate to meet the developmental needs of the College.
The Provost said that in fulfillment of his desires to further develop and transform the College, any visitor entering the College would be able to acknowledge the fact that there are a lot of developmental activities going on. Structures are coming up with some already at one hundred percent completion, while others are at various stages of completion. Dr Hassan told His Royal Majesty that academic programme of the College have been enlarged by the creation of two additional schools and some new departments.
Lastly, the Provost said he would continue to sustain and also strengthen some of these collaborations that had been mentioned and he would always come to his Royal Majesty to seek for advices, wisdom and also learn some words of experience so that there would be added value to the institution. Highlight of the visit was the presentation of a special birthday card to His Royal Majesty.
In his response, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji (Dr.) Ado Ibrahim (CON), who was visibly elated, started with prayers from Holy Qur’an. He thanked everybody especially the management members and staff of the College led by the Provost, Dr. Umar Hassan for being part of his birthday celebration of 90th year on earth. The Royal Father said he was very happy with Provost of the College for his attendance. The Ohinoyi also thanked the people of his domain for their support and cooperation throughout his years on the throne, and made special mention of the youths of his domain who have been ever supportive of him. He prayed to Allah Almighty to grant him another 10 years in good health so that he could celebrate a century on earth. He concluded his remarks by thanking the Provost and his Management staff for the visit and prayed for the success of his administration.
