BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT
CRS Department started for the NCE Programme in 1974. When the college muted the idea of running a degree programme, an application was made to the University of Ibadan. The accreditation visitation panel from University of Ibadan visited the Department for inspection
A favourable report of this visitation panel recommended the department to the National University Commission who also sent into the college panel of experts to validate the claims of the University of Ibadan.
On the favourable report of the panel from the National Universities Commission, the department was granted the approval to offer a degree in Teacher Education – Christian Religious Studies.
Consequently, the programme started in affiliation with the University of Ibadan in 2012/2013 academic session.

The Department is headed by a senior member of staff holding office as substantive head for an initial period of two years which can be renewed at the discretion of the college management for another two years’ term. This board meets regularly to take important decisions as they affect the department including moderation of student’s result prior to submission to the business committee and academic board.
In the department, other staff members assist the H.O.D in various capacities that include serving as DepartmentalExamination Officer, Course Advisers/level coordinators, patron of students association, etc.
The department runs an open policy on staff promotion as is the general norm in the college. Guidelines and set rules are strictly adhered to in an open and transparent manner. All staff are subjected to the same rules of thorough screening of their credentials and are therefore promoted on merit.
